JAB Recruitment is currently sourcing an experienced Maintenance Spares & Repairs Lead on behalf of our client in Barrow-in-Furness.
This position will take responsibility for the availability, integrity and lifecycle management of maintenance spares and repairable equipment, supporting safe, reliable and compliant operations across onshore and offshore assets.
The successful candidate must already live within a reasonable commuting distance of Barrow-in-Furness or be prepared to relocate to the area at their own cost.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain spares and repair strategies aligned with maintenance, reliability and asset integrity requirements.
- Define spares philosophies for safety-critical and production-critical equipment.
- Identify and manage critical and insurance spares based on equipment criticality and failure risk.
- Maintain critical spares registers and supporting assurance evidence.
- Manage stocking policies for onshore and offshore operations, considering downtime, logistics and operational risk.
- Support decisions relating to redundancy, repair versus replacement and long-lead items.
- Act as the technical focal point for OEMs, vendors and specialist repair providers.
- Ensure repairs comply with OEM specifications, engineering standards, quality requirements and applicable regulations.
- Identify and manage equipment and component obsolescence.
- Develop mitigation strategies through redesign, alternative sourcing and life-extension solutions.
- Work with supply chain teams to optimise inventory while reducing excess, obsolete and slow-moving stock.
- Support budgeting, cost control, supplier performance and contract input.
- Maintain accurate spares and repair information within the CMMS.
- Support audits, regulatory inspections and asset integrity reviews.
- Provide specialist guidance to planners, engineers and offshore teams.
- Support incident investigations using Kelvin TopSet methodology.
Candidate requirements
- Proven maintenance spares and repair-management experience within oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, power, nuclear or another hazardous industry.
- Strong understanding of equipment criticality and risk-based spares management.
- Knowledge of maintenance strategies, reliability principles, repair processes and quality assurance.
- Experience working with CMMS systems.
- Experience managing obsolescence on ageing assets is desirable.
- Familiarity with ISO 55000 asset-management principles.
- Degree in engineering, technology, materials management, asset management or a related discipline.
- Experience working within Safety Case, COMAH or similarly regulated operating environments would be advantageous.
Contract: Two-year PAYE contract
Location: Barrow-in-Furness
Working arrangement: Site-based requirements will apply - 4 days in office 1 at home
Relocation: Candidates must live within commuting distance or relocate at their own cost
