JAB Recruitment is currently sourcing on behalf of our client for an experienced Electrical and Electronics Engineer to join a specialist engineering team based in Westhill.
The successful candidate will provide electrical and electronic engineering design solutions and through-life technical support across a technically advanced product portfolio. The workload will include new product development, responding to client and internal technical requirements, and supporting upgrades or modifications to existing equipment in the field.
Key responsibilities
- Provide electrical and electronic design input for new and existing products.
- Assess technical queries and develop practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Produce design calculations and check detailed electrical drawings.
- Create engineering documentation, including specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certification and technical reports.
- Select suitable components and materials and create part numbers and bills of materials.
- Work closely with sales, procurement, production, supply chain and wider engineering teams.
- Ensure designs comply with internal procedures, applicable legislation, engineering standards and client requirements.
- Act as a technical checker for drawings and engineering documentation.
- Deliver engineering solutions safely, on time and within budget.
- Attend other company locations and client assets when required.
Experience required
- Proven electrical and electronic design experience.
- Ability to produce engineering design calculations.
- Competence using CAD and other engineering design software.
- Sound knowledge of relevant electrical design standards.
- Experience using Product Lifecycle Management systems to create and maintain engineering packages.
- Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
- A minimum of three years’ experience within a graduate engineering role.
- Previous product-design experience, particularly involving DC systems, would be advantageous.
- Experience working to marine or defence standards and classification society requirements, particularly LR and DNV, would be highly beneficial.
The position would suit a methodical and detail-focused engineer who can work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Candidates should be comfortable taking ownership of tasks, responding to changing requirements and delivering high-quality technical work to demanding deadlines.
